Julia provides evidence-informed counselling and psychotherapy for people who are looking to make changes to struggles in their lives, increase coping and positive experiences, re-evaluate relationships, and examine identities and ways of navigating the world. This can help improve issues with stress, minority stress, anxiety, depression, past trauma, current coping, low confidence and self-esteem, as well as improve personal and professional relationships and habits. Throughout her 14 years of providing counselling and psychotherapy, she has been training in various approaches including EMDR, CBT, DBT, Solution-Focussed Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and uses strengths-based approaches from a bio-psycho-social-spiritual perspective.

Julia MacArthur, MSW, RSW, (she/her) has been practicing in the areas of mental health, substance use, community organizing, adovocacy, and leadership for over 17 years in Thunder Bay, Ontario. She is passionate about supporting people in working with identities, trauma, stress, anxiety, depression, finding balance, recognizing and shifting habits and patterns of behaviour that are no longer benefitting, and examining and improving relationships with self and others. Working from an anti-racist, anti-oppressive, queer-positive and trauma-informed perspectives are a priority, while bringing a systems-understanding to navigating life. She offers evidence-informed, person-centred, consent-based counselling and psychotherapy to individuals, couples, and families of all ages.
